Volunteers Needed

The Northland Genealogy Society is run by volunteers.  We need your help to keep the organization running smoothly and to be able to present the speakers that will help us in our genealogy research.  Below are the two areas where we need the most help:
Membership  (Can be a shared position with another Society member)
  • Create nametags for new members.
  • Bring nametags to each meeting and lay them out alphbetically for members to pick up.
  • Put out membership list for members to check off their names.
  • Put out sign up sheet for visitors and those who wish to join
  • Keep a tally of the number of people at each meeting.
  • Keep President and Treasurer informed of potential new members and attendance.
Programs  (This works best if two or three people could handle this with input from the Board)
  • Select topics for Sept., Oct., Nov., Jan., Feb., Mar. Apr. and May or June depending on which month we hold the seminar.  We have a list of topics members are interested in.  The seminar will be handled by the Board.
  • Select speakers.    We have a list of possible resources.
  • Contact the speaker.  Be sure to get e-mail and phone number.   We have some guidelines (need a flash drive and a program for Windows, not Mac as an example)
  • Remind the speaker a week ahead of time.
  • Send information to the webmanager for posting on our website
  • Prepare a brief bio of the speaker for an introduction.
  • Introduce speaker (If not comfortable doing so, one of Board members can.)
